SESSION DESCRIPTION

It’s time to un-learn toxic diet culture and respect our bodies for what they are.

We aren’t born hating our bodies. You don’t see toddlers saying “my tummy is so round” or “my legs are so big!” These are societal norms that are taught to us at such a foundational age.

We are told that we need to weigh a certain weight and be a specific kind of body type. We are taught that if we don’t fit into this mould that diet culture has made for us, we are not worthy of love and respect.

In this talk, we will try to understand our insecurities by exploring where these ideas originated, how it has affected in the past, and things we can practice so we can begin the process of healing.

Join us for this Buhay Virtual Event on Honoring Your Body with our facilitators, Sabina Yulo and Tina Baron on this second event of the year.

**The energy exchange for this event will start at PHP 100 but if you wish to donate more to this project this will be very much appreciate. Payment details will be sent upon registration.

Sabina Yulo is part-owner of burger joint Buns & Bros and full owner of two cats named Trevor and Timmy. Growing up a “chubby” kid in Manila, Sabina is no stranger to the thin Filipino ideals of “beauty.” After years of trying to live up to that standard and feeling like less of a person for failing, she came across the concept of body positivity and has spent the last year learning more about it and sharing concepts to whoever wants to listen.

Besides selling burgers, Sabina has dabbled in CrossFit and powerlifting since 2014 and 2019, respectively. With her knowledge of nutrition, fitness, and body positivity, she enjoys having discussions about finding what lifestyle and mindset makes you happy, healthy, and feel your best self.
